Physical therapists use their expertise in age appropriate movement, motor coordination, and body functions to collaborate with families/caregivers in implementing an individualized treatment plan for each child. Such treatment plans may include but not limited to: proper positioning during daily activities, adapting toys for play, mobility option recommendations with coordination for obtaining recommendations, education in use of mobility aids, facilitating safety in the home and community, building strength and endurance to participate in daily activities and assisting with all developmental stages from birth through transition into adulthood.

Your child may benefit from a PT evaluation if they have delays in age-appropriate gross motor skills: (i.e. rolling, sitting up, crawling, walking, running, etc.), decreased or lack of balance and coordination, difficulty planning or sustaining motor movements, poor postural control.
